Oaks Christian was going to be the No. 1 seed in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division football playoffs. That much was certain.

Which teams would be the next three seeds was very much up for debate.

The tri-champions from the Marmonte League earned the top three spots in the Northern Division playoffs. St Bonaventure is the No. 2 seed with Westlake, the reigning Northern Division champions, at No. 3. All three teams finished with 8-1 league records and tied for first place. READ MORE »

West Ranch wins for first time ever against Saugus

West Ranch has struggled running the football for most of the season.

When the Wildcats’ starting quarterback went down in the first quarter on Friday, they had little choice but to run it.

But they ran it well against Saugus. And because of that, they’ve thrown the Foothill League playoff race into a frenzy.

Running backs Andres Gutierrez and Quaid Willis boosted West Ranch’s running game, and the defense intercepted Saugus four times to earn a 21-20 victory at Valencia High School.

The win marks the first time West Ranch (5-4, 2-2) has beaten Saugus in football. READ MORE »
