When the CIF-Southern Section released its at-large football playoff selections Sunday morning, there was at least one name that had never been there before.
Golden Valley will make its first-ever playoff appearance, one of five non-guaranteed selections in Division 7.
The Grizzlies’ playoff pairing is expected to be released at 11:30 a.m.
The first round of playoffs is Friday night.
Saugus made the Division 6 bracket. The Centurions, who were on the playoff bubble after finishing third in the Foothill League, will play 9-1 Crescenta Valley on the road.
Hart, which finished second in the Foothill League by beating Saugus on Friday night, will travel to 10-0 Cathedral of Los Angeles.
Eight-time Foothill League champion Valencia will host Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks in the Division 2 first round.
Divisions 4, 7 and 12 will be released at 11:30. And Divisions 8, 10 and 13, which could feature Santa Clarita Christian, at noon.
West Ranch, Canyon and Trinity Classical Academy did not not earn at-large berths and won’t be in the playoffs this year.
